Sunpower solar panels are based in California and have worked hard to establish a reputation that other solar panel manufacturers cannot touch. Sunpower’s new third generation Maxeon Solar Cell has now upped it’s efficiency rating to a level of 24 per cent. This means that 24% of the solar energy that it captures is being converted to usable electricity.
This particular solar cell is very small at just 160mm but delivers more energy per square meter than the crystalline solar cells that have been used conventionally. Even in conditions that are shady or dusty, the solar cell can still deliver. Quite often solar cells cannot work as efficiently in hot environments either, but that is not the case with this advanced model that is now being produced commercially and is available on the market.
